The purpose of the Strategic Directioning is to formulate the guidelines for the growth, recomposition, restructuring and improvement of the School. The basis of this direction is a diagnosis of the general situation of engineering in the country, its environment and trends in the near future. The study identifies the projects that must be carried out to meet the proposed goals.

For the orientation of the Strategic Direction of the School of Engineering, the Strategic Development Plan 2015-2025 of the Universidad del Valle, adopted by the Superior Council in session on October 30, 2015, and its modifications, was taken as a starting point. This document presents the main basic and strategic indicators of the University, an analysis of the national and international context with emphasis on relevant aspects of the current situation, trends in public higher education and, in addition, the role of the University in the consolidation of the Colombian higher education system and its research and development component.
